Configuration options of the “UM-SBC-209”
Like every Raspberry Pi Rackmount Kit from us, you can configure the “UM-SBC-209” according to your specific needs.
Rail System
This allows your devices to be conveniently operated by pulling out the rackmount kit. A telescopic rail on each side of the Raspberry Rack allows for easy access. The rail extension is 200 mm. We recommend it if you want to always have access to your memory card without dismantling the rackmount kit.
Keystone Inline Coupler
For each Pi a keystone connector slot is avaliable. Choose the keystone inline coupler type you need. Note that the “Push Button Connector” needs to be soldered.
LEDs
To display the status LEDs of your Pi on the front. Must be glued and soldered when assembling.
Fan 40×40
The “UM-SBC-209” offers a mounting option for up to 4 fans (40 x 40 mm with a hole spacing of 32 x 32 mm). This allows the devices to be additionally ventilated. Each fan attaches to the rackmount kit with two screws directly behind the Pi.
Slot Display
The slot display is a bracket that allows a display to be installed in the rack kit. It occupies one Pi slot and mounts in the same rackmount kit holes as the Pi. Can be used to display important information about your running system. Note that the display is not included.
Slot Cover
This allows free slots in the rackmount kit to be covered. It mounts to the same rackmount kit holes as the Pi. Perfect if you want to temporarily cover one or more slots and upgrade your system at a later date.
Rack Panel 1.00U
This allows the free space of the rack mount kit to be closed up to the next full rack unit. You can choose between an air or blank version.

Available build space for Raspberry Pi add-on boards
If you are considering adding additional cards such as PoE HAT or PCIe expansion cards to the rack, see below for available space.
1.00U | Slot – 58x20mm
Suitable for Raspberry Pi with Poe-HAT.
Single Board Computer with identical form factor for Raspberry Pi
As mentioned above, you can mount single board computers with the same form factor as the Pi 5 in the Raspberry Pi Rackmount Kit. Pay attention to the basic dimensions of the Pi and the drilling pattern/diameter.
If they match, your single-board computers are compatible with our rack and can therefore be used without any problems. Single board computers tested by us for compatibility are: ASUS Tinker Board | ODROID-C1+

Henning Halfpap –
A nice way to get up to 4 Pis in therack – but do plan thoroughly!
Pros:
– very tidy solution to mount up to 4 Raspberry Pis
– Low rackspace usage due to only 1U used
– very stable
– a total of 4 keystone slots to pass through connectors to the front
– lots of customisation options
– very high build quality
Cons:
– Tight space due to the compact format (e.g. putting a raspberry Pi in the left slot and routing an HDMI cable from there is almost impossible)
– Hats on the Top of the Pi (e.g. a PoE hat) will fit nicely, but bottom placed hats (like M.2 SSD USB devices) might be difficult unless the connectors face backwards, which in turn might lead to conlicts with possible fans mounted in that location
– Use of LEDs is difficult as the space between the slot and the keystone slot, where the LED holes are located, is extremely tight
– No LED-PCB and matching mounting screw sockets are available – currently the only option is to glue the LEDs into their sockets
– with the 16×2 LCD panel mounted, using LEDs in the same slot becomes very difficult, if not impossible, as the LCD’s PCB overlaps the LED holes
Although I had one or two issues while building my Setup – which occured mostly due to my lack of planning / experience – I am very happy about how my build turned out. Note that, although there’s rack rails available, this is not so much a solution for tinkering, but rather a permanent build. Although you can access everything in the mount quite easily if you pull it out, it will most probably be screwed on to the mount. For a more tinker-friendly solution I’d probably search for one that allows to remove the Pi as a module individually. But apart from that, for my purpose, it is just the perfect solution!
